The Orioles aren’t better than too many teams. But one team they are superior to is the Royals. Kansas City is 19-37. That ties the Royals with the A’s for worst percentage in baseball.

I give the Orioles the check mark, too, in starting pitchers with lefty Bruce Zimmermann facing Jonathan Heasley.

Zimmerman has a 4.87 ERA, but most of that is because five of his 11 starts have occurred against the Yankees and Red Sox. He hasn’t given up more than two earned runs in five of his other six starts. He draws a bad offense in the Royals, who rank 27th in slugging percentage against lefties. Overall, the Royals are 26th in runs and 28th in homers.

Heasley is 0-3 with a 4.62 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP. Heasley doesn’t have a high upside. At best he’s an innings-eater, bottom-of-the-rotation type starter. The Orioles have scored 14 runs in their last two games.

(Editor’s note: Stephen Nover has been on fire the last three weeks going 40-20 for 67 percent on his premium plays. Stephen is enjoying a big baseball season winning 17 of his last 25 premium plays, including going 2-0 on Thursday cashing run line winners on the Cardinals and Yankees.
