Pelicans minus 2 at Jazz

At some point, Utah is going to win its first game. But so far the Jazz have given no indication they are ready to accomplish that.

The Jazz are the worst team in the NBA. That’s not only reflected in their 0-8 record (1-6-1 ATS), but being ranked last in all of the major offensive categories, including scoring and field goal percentage. Utah commits more than 18 turnovers per game and its average losing margin is close to 14 points.

Can the Jazz break through here against New Orleans, which just got embarrassed 116-95 by the mediocre Lakers last night? Don’t expect it. The Pelicans have certain strong matchup edges and will be highly motivated. The Pelicans didn’t play that hard or without much energy against the Lakers and their emerging superstar Anthony Davis only logged a season-low 26 minutes due to foul trouble.

The Pelicans are 25-6 ATS following a loss of more than 10 points. They certainly don’t want to be humiliated a second consecutive night by losing to the league’s lone winless team.

New Orleans entered last night’s game with the league’s fifth-best rebounding margin. Utah has been outrebounded by an average 9.3 rebounds in its last three games while losing by an average of 22.3 points.

Davis should be in line for another monster performance as Utah allows 46.8 points in the paint, which is the fourth-worst in the NBA.
