Lynx minus 4 1/2 hosting Mercury
After an 0-6 start, Minnesota has turned around its season. The Lynx are 8-3 in their last 11 games. They’ve won and covered their last four games. This includes an 86-76 road victory against Phoenix this past Saturday.
The Lynx have gotten a boost from rookie Diamond Miller, who was out earlier in the year.
Phoenix Center Brittney Griner gets a ton of publicity and notice. But Minnesota’s low-post star Napheesa Collier is having the better season ranking third in scoring and 11th in rebounding. She is ahead of Griner in both of these categories.
The Mercury have the worst record in the league at 3-13. The Mercury played one of their better games and gave a great effort but came up short in a 99-95 road loss to the Liberty two days ago. That was their eight loss in nine games.
I don’t believe the Mercury will repeat that effort against Minnesota. The Mercury also won’t Diana Taurasi. The 41-year-old Taurasi is Phoenix’s No. 2 scorer and assists leader. She is being rested.
