Mariners plus $1.70 at Angels

I don’t care if it’s the Mariners. There is no way the Angels can be this big of a favorite considering their key injuries and not having the better starting pitcher.

Seattle is in full rebuild mode. I get that. But I also get that the Angels have lost 40 of their last 57 games. Maybe the Angels get Anthony Rendon back for the first time this season. Maybe not as he’s been out the first four games with an oblique injury. It’s highly doubtful, though, the Angels will have their underrated shortstop Andrelton Simmons available. Simmons suffered an ankle injury on Monday.

The pitching matchup is Justus Sheffield versus Patrick Sandoval. Sheffield has a much higher ceiling. The Angels have never faced him. Sheffield will be facing an Angels squad that has scored only 11 runs in four games.

Sandoval wasn’t even supposed to start this game. However, Matt Andriese, who was supposed to start, was used for 5 2/3 innings of relief on Sunday. Sandoval went 0-4 with a 5.03 ERA in 10 appearances, including nine starts, as a rookie last season.
