Indians minus 1 1/2 runs minus $1.15 at Cardinals
Corey Kluber is the best pitcher in the American League if not all of baseball. I have no problem laying a short run line price with him against a pitcher who has been one of the worst since returning from the DL.
Yep, I’m talking about you Carlos Martinez.
Maybe it’s a mental thing, but Martinez has an 8.10 ERA in four starts since coming off the DL following a lat strain. He’s failed to make it past the fifth inning in all of those starts.
Perhaps Martinez is due to pitch better. But I can’t see him hanging in against Kluber and a powerful Indians offense that ranks second in homers and fourth in runs.
Kluber is the favorite right now to capture his third AL Cy Young Award. He’s 11-3 with a 2.10 ERA. Kluber has given up two or fewer earned runs in seven of his last eight starts.
The Indians’ last 12 victories have all been by more than one run.
