Stephen Nover Free Monday Play

Mariners minus $1.20 at Orioles

It doesn’t take much for me to want to fade the Orioles, who are a staggering 30 games below .500 already.

The spot, pitching matchup and and value price are enough to do it here.

It’s Felix Hernandez versus Andrew Cashner. Hernandez isn’t the King Felix of old, but he’s in good form and rates a strong edge on Cashner, who hasn’t been reliable since his days pitching at Petco Park with the Padres five years ago.

Hernandez has allowed only one earned in each of his last two starts. Those outings were against the Red Sox and Yankees, too. Now he steps way down in class to face the Orioles, who rank in the bottom-three in runs and batting average. The Orioles have average power, but Hernandez has cut back on the long ball surrendering just two homers during his last seven starts

Cashner is 2-8 with a 4.72 ERA on the year. The Mariners are 20-8 versus righthanders. It’s a nice plus if the Mariners get back Jean Segura. The Mariners have been on the East Coast the past week. They’ve gone 1-5 in their last six games. Note, though, those matchups were against the Yankees and Red Sox.

The Orioles haven’t been home in a week. So they may not have their full focus. Baltimore hasn’t played well at Camden Yards losing 11 of its past 12 home contests. The Orioles also have dropped 40 of their last 53 games against a righty starter.

(Editor’s note: Stephen Nover has won 71 percent of his baseball plays during the last six days and is 20-8 on his Canadian Football League plays during the past two seasons. If you’re interested in Stephen’s sports service please message him.)
