Hall of Fame Game Debacle

Mixed feelings. That’s what I hold about Sunday’s canceled Hall of Fame Game.

Do you ever hold an absolute, no-doubt-about-it feeling when making a bet?

That’s how I felt about the Colts beating the Packers. The information about the Packers being forced to use a pair of undrafted rookie quarterbacks came early to me. So I was able to get a very good number at Colts minus 1.

By kickoff, the line had reached Colts minus 3 with juice attached to it.

Then the amateurs running the show botched the paint job. No game. Called off.

Now comes the good part. I’m a Packers fan. Have been closely following them since the early years of Vince Lombardi. Happiness is not having your team play a fifth exhibition game.

As any Packers fan can tearfully tell you, Jordy Nelson was lost for the season in preseason last year. Green Bay’s offense never recovered.

Two preseason games are all that are needed. Yet the number is doubled because of greed.

At least now I can wait a weeek to hold my breath about any Packer getting hurt. Preseason isn’t about winning. It’s about having your players survive.
