Pirates plus $1.42 at Brewers
The Brewers are 2-5 in the seven starts Joe Ross has made this season. The Brewers should not be such a heavy favorite with Ross going against Quinn Priester and the Pirates today.
Ross has a 4.75 ERA. Two Tommy John surgeries have robbed him of his earlier potential that he showed when he came up with the Nationals in 2015. Ross missed both the 2023 and 2022 seasons. He’s had an ERA higher than 5.00 during three of the last four seasons he’s been able to pitch entering this year.
The Pirates are swinging hot bats, averaging 7.3 runs in their last three games.
Priester is due for better luck. He’s 0-3 with a 3.86 ERA. But that ERA shrinks to 2.70 going by his past three starts. Priester probably won’t have to deal with Rhys Hoskins, who leads the Brewers with nine homers. Hoskins left Monday’s loss to the Pirates with a hamstring injury.
