White Sox plus $1.53 at Royals

Once upon a time Michael Soroka was a highly promising pitcher going 13-4 with a 2.68 ERA for the Braves. That was in 2019.

Since then Soroka has dealt with major injuries throwing fewer than 50 innings. The White Sox took a shot on him this season. Soroka got some rust off against the Tigers, throwing five innings last Saturday. The Tigers got to him for four runs on seven hits in five innings.

Soroka gets his second start for the White Sox today against the Royals and Seth Lugo. The Royals are such a big favorite that I’m going to take a shot on the White Sox.

All but one of the White Sox’s first five games have been decided by one run. That includes a 3-2 Chicago victory as a big ‘dog against the Braves at home on Wednesday.

The Royals just concluded a three-game road series against the Orioles on Wednesday with a game that was delayed five hours because of bad weather in a 4-3 loss.

Soroka has yet to turn his career around. However, Lugo is a lower-tier rotation starter and Kansas City’s bullpen is the worst in the majors with an 8.04 ERA having suffered three losses and two blown saves. The Royals may be looking for a new closer since Will Smith has a 20.25 ERA.

(Editor’s note: Stephen Nover has lost only one premium MLB play this season. Stephen also is enjoying another strong, winning NBA season going 62-47 on his last 109 premium plays. If you are interested in Stephen’s sports service, please email him at scriber26@gmail.com, or message him via X.)
