Blue Jays minus $1.15 hosting Cubs (Early start)

Go to the head of the class if you know that Chris Bassitt leads Toronto in wins with 11. Bassitt gets the home start here facing lefty Justin Steele.

Steele has become a very good pitcher in his third season. However, he’s coming off a season-high 110 pitches in his last start. He has already exceeded the most innings he has pitched in a season. So regression could be coming.

The Blue Jays are 14-9 against southpaws. They have the third-highest on base percentage versus left-handers and fifth-highest batting average.

Bassitt is not the best pitcher on the Blue Jays. But he is solid. He’s at his best when pitching at home, too, with a 6-2 record and 2.56 ERA. Bassitt has permitted two earned runs or fewer in four of his past five starts.
