Nover’s View: Red Sox-Twins Free Tuesday Play

On August 30, 2022, in Free Picks, MLB, by Stephen

Red Sox at Twins Over 8 1/2 minus $1.20

Now that the marketplace has knocked this total below 9 at some books, I’m getting involved with the Over. I don’t agree with the early money going on the Under.

These are above average offenses. The Twins rank 10th in runs and 11th in batting average. Minnesota is averaging six runs during its last four games. Boston is sixth in batting average and 11th in runs. The Red Sox are averaging five runs in their last five games.

Both bullpens have been overworked and the starting pitchers are Kutter Crawford (3-5, 5.30 ERA) against Chris Archer (2-7, 4.34 ERA). This is another strong reason why I like Over.

Crawford has hit a rookie wall. He is 1-2 with a 7.46 ERA this month in five starts. Crawford has been tagged for 13 runs on 21 hits in his last two starts spanning only 8 1/3 innings.

Archer isn’t nearly the pitcher he once was. He doesn’t go deep into games either, having yet to go past five innings during any of his 21 appearances this season. Archer traditionally struggles against Boston, too, with a 2-12 mark and 5.27 ERA in 21 career starts versus the Red Sox.

My Tuesday card is headed by my MLB Underdog Game of the Month. I am 61-34-1 on my baseball Max Unit plays going back to last season. I also have three NFL plays available with more to follow going for my 27th winning NFL season in 30 years. I went 6-3 during preseason. I am up more than 25 units in baseball and on a 18-9 WNBA hot streak beating that league for the fourth time in five years.
