Giants minus $1.70 at Reds
What is Vladimir Gutierrez doing on a big league roster? More important, why is Gutierrez still starting a game?
I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth as the saying goes. I’m just going to the window and lay this price in order to fade Gutierrez.
The Giants are in revenge mode after the Reds upset them, 5-1, last night. The Giants had plenty of distractions before that game with their manager, Gabe Kapler, saying he would not take the field for the national anthem in protest of how things have been going in America and with outfielder Joc Pederson getting into an on-field confrontation with Reds outfield Tommy Pham about a fantasy football league dispute.
Nice to know that disputes don’t just happen in my fantasy football league. Although they have never turned physical.
Back to Gutierrez. I have him rated as the worst starter in the majors. He’s 0-6 with an 8.70 ERA and 1.90 WHIP.
Alex Wood goes for the Giants. He pitched for the Reds in 2019. Wood is dependable and the Giants hold a big bullpen edge especially now that Jake McGee has been activated from the injured list and Kapler doesn’t forget to put him on the lineup card.
The Giants are the far superior team and they have their focus back.
