NFL Hall of Fame Inductees

Now that Brett Favre is in the Hall of Fame can he still come back to play? Hey, rumors had the Rams interested in Peyton Manning. Favre still has his fastball unlike Manning.

Favre joins Jim Brown and the late Wilt Chamberlain has the only retired all-time greats who I thought still could play many years after they left the game.

I don’t have a major problem with any of this year’s NFL Hall of Fame class. Favre and Marvin Harrison obviously are no-brainers. Orlando Pace certainly was a great left tackle. Kevin Greene was a great pass rusher. I’m less enamored of Tony Dungy’s getting picked. He’s a very classy guy and was a very good coach. I wouldn’t put him up there, though, among the all-time great coaches. But as we see with the baseball Hall of Fame, there are different levels.

It’s too bad Kenny Stabler couldn’t have received this honor while he still was alive. He was deserving before and he’s certainly deserving now. He was one of those rare quarterbacks, like Joe Montana, who you just knew would make clutch plays and pull games out. Dick Stanfel was a generation before my time so no opinion on him.
