The New York Giants almost pulled a comeback for the ages coming down from 35-7 to tie unbeaten Carolina before losing on a last-second field goal.
Unfortunately the Giants’ stirring comeback takes a backseat to the dirty, unsportsmanlike, cheap shot plays of Odell Beckham Jr. He was called for three personal fouls – and could have been called for numerous others.
Not only does Beckham deserve to be suspended, but so does referee Terry McAulay for not ejecting the out-of-control, out-of-his-mind Beckham in what should have been an obvious expulsion. Disagree? Then you must condone an intentional helmet-to-helmet that could have seriously injured cornerback Josh Norman.
Tom Couglin further sullied his once strong reputation by not taking Beckham out even for a series to get him under control. Coughlin preaches discipline, but he’s another hypocritical win-at-all costs type of coach.
Beckham is a superstar so he’ll draw his defenders and supporters. If he weren’t a mega-star, though, he would be immediately cut. The NFL can actually do Beckham a long-term favor by suspending him. They would be doing what an enabling Coughlin refused, teaching the punk a lesson.
