Early during NFL training camp time there was a prop on who would emerge as the Buffalo Bills’ starting quarterback.
One bettor took a shot on Tyrod Taylor at plus $3.25. At the time, Taylor looked like he would be No. 3 if he even made the team.
We know now that Taylor is the man. But the bettor didn’t get paid. His wager was graded a loser.
How can this be? Enter center stage Rex Ryan.
Ryan decided to get cute on the Bills’ first offensive play from scrimmage by having Matt Cassel and LeSean McCoy in the backfield and Taylor lined up wide in some kind of wildcard formation. McCoy ran the ball and lost six yards.
Taylor then moved back to quarterback where he played the rest of the game. But because the box score showed Cassel as the quarterback on the first play, the sports book graded Cassel as the Bills’ No. 1 quarterback.
Not fair in my book.
