NFL Believe it or Nots

It has been nine seasons since the Patriots won the Super Bowl. My take: Bill Belichick is a first ballot Hall of Famer, but he shouldn’t be in the argument for greatest football coach ever.

The Jets, under Rex Ryan, have missed the playoffs for four straight years. My take: Rex Ryan has proven overrated. A fifth consecutive non-playoff season should spell the end for any NFL head coach.

The Cowboys are 136-136 since 1997. My take: America’s Team my ass. The Cowboys are the definition of mediocrity.

The Bills have had one winning season during the last 15 years. My take: At least Ralph Wilson won’t have to suffer any more.

No NFC South Division team has ever won back-to-back division titles. My take: This doesn’t bode well for the Panthers.

The Bengals haven’t won a playoff game in 23 years. My take: Marvin Lewis has taken the Bengals to respectability, but can’t take them any farther.

The Chiefs have won their last 10 games against NFC West opponents. My take: Be careful when reading trends like this because they can be misleading. The last time Kansas City played an NFC West team was 2010 when Todd Haley was its coach.

The Seahawks are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 road/neutral site games. My take: Seattle is an underrated road club.

The Redskins haven’t won a division title since 1999. My take: This should be far more disconcerting to Redskins followers than their team nickname.
