Shanahan Has Ruined RG3 & Redskins

I said it at the time and it bears repeating: Mike Shanahan did serious harm to Robert Griffin III and to the future of the Redskins franchise when he didn’t pull RG3 out of last season’s wild-card playoff loss to the Seahawks after it was obvious that Griffin was hurt.

Griffin still isn’t right following serious off-season knee surgery. RG3 is a warrior with a big arm, but he now resembles Christian Ponder rather than last year’s superstar.

Shanahan is one of the most overrated coaches of all time, propped up by John Elway when he coached at Denver and his mishandling of RG3 against Seattle wasn’t just stupid and shortsighted but criminal as Griffin may never be the same.

So what should the Redskins do now? My suggestion is give Griffin the rest of the season off. That way he could rest his knee and not risk further punishment. Let promising Kirk Cousins take over. If Cousins does well he could have trade value.

Also Shanahan should be fired. The Redskins are a dead team right now. Maybe an interim coach can light a fire. Certainly the play selection wouldn’t be as bad.
