Rangers plus $1.04 at Yankees
I don’t care that the Rangers offense is scuffling ranking in the bottom-five in runs and batting average. I just want to know on what planet is Jacob deGrom an underdog to Ryan Yarbrough? It can’t be planet Earth.
But that’s the way the line currently is despite deGrom being healthy – at least for the time being – and pitching like his old self with a 3-0 record, 1.50 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in three starts this month. deGrom is 4-1 on the season with a 2.29 ERA and 0.98 WHIP.
Yarbrough is a 33-year-old journeyman on his fifth team since 2022. The desperate Yankees are trying him as a fill-in fifth starter until their pitching staff gets healthier. Yarbrough is showing a respectable 3.70 ERA, but his metrics are not pretty – 4.95 FIP, 1.5 home runs allowed per nine innings and nearly four walks per nine innings.
Texas has been disappointing to say the least offensively. Joc Peterson and his .127 batting average shouldn’t have a job. But the Rangers have talented hitters that are due for positive regression.
These aren’t the 1927 Yankees where they should be favored in such a lopsided pitching matchup. I can’t think of a least feared third base platoon than what the Yankees employ with Oswald Peraza and Jorbit Vivas splitting time.
My Wednesday card is topped by my Max Unit Stanley Cup Game of the Week. I am 5-0 on my Max Unit Stanley Cup sides/puck line plays. I also am looking to go 19-11 on my last NBA sides plays and 3-1 on my WNBA totals this season with NBA and WNBA plays today in addition to this free selection.
