Nover’s View: Kings-Jets Free Friday NHL Play

On January 10, 2025, in Free Picks, NHL, by Stephen

Jets minus $1.18 hosting Kings

Even if Connor Hellebuyck isn’t in net, I find this price short on the home Jets. Winnipeg is 15-4-2 at home.

The Jets have started to play better on their current homestand after opening with huge upset losses to the Red Wings and Ducks. Winnipeg rebounded to beat the Predators, 5-2, this past Tuesday. They should be back on track.

This also is a revenge spot for the Jets, who were soundly outplayed by the Kings, 4-1, in LA on Nov. 27. The Jets were playing for the fourth time in six days in that game.

The Kings last played six days ago when they defeated the Lightning. Their game against Calgary at home on Wednesday was called off because of the fires in southern California. The devastating fires could zap the concentration level from the Kings as they now take to the road. There’s also a rust factor for the Kings, who have not seen action in six days.

(Editor’s note: Stephen Nover is 2-0 on his Max Unit January bowl plays. Stephen’s Friday card is topped by a Max Unit play on the Cotton Bowl. If you’re interested in Stephen’s sports service, please email him at scriber26@gmail.com or message him via X.)
